Components and build quality:
The Fiido C700 comes with an aluminum alloy step through frame and is powered by a 250W motor and 313.2Wh battery. It is very clean and low maintenance as it comes with a carbon belt drive. This means no mucky chain, no risk of your chain braking or coming off!
It is also compatible with a rear rack and front basket as well as other accessories so you can really personalise your bike and make it work for you, whether you prefer a more streamlined ride or you often have a lot of extra cargo (like me!).
The handlebars are adjustable so you can fine tune the riding position to suit you, your riding style and your height. The LCD display is embedded in the centre of the handlebars. It’s nice and bright, easy to read the stats at a glance while riding.
The Fiido C700 also comes with a walk assist button which just means that the weight of the bike is alleviated when you are not riding, especially if the bike is loaded with cargo.
I also really like the look and design of this bike. I think the colour is really pretty and the design is sleek and a step-though framing is great for shorter riders or those who want a bit more flexibility with their outfits when riding.
Performance and handling:
The motor is not only silent but powerful. It had three levels of assist available: eco, sport, and boost. The torque sensor gives the bike a really natural riding feel as the harder you push down on the pedals, the more power the motor outputs.
The app is slightly basic in its functions and user interface but that doesn’t really bother me - it works, and that’s the most important thing.
The Fiido C700 performed pretty well on our hill test too! Even in eco mode it still feels like it’s helping you to get up the hill with a nice little bit of assist which is good to know if you need to reserve battery power.
In our real world range test Eilis managed to get 26miles out of one fully charged battery. She was riding mostly in sport mode, using boost where it was needed, and tested in mild temperature conditions (because lithium-ion batteries perform worse in cold temperatures!). This is less than Fiido claims but electric bike manufacturers do often test in perfect conditions on flat terrain.
Safety and security:
This bike comes with a whole host of safety features to keep you and your bike safe out on the roads. Integrated front and rear lights make sure that you can see and be seen at all times on the road. Integrated turn signals also keep other road users aware of your intentions on the road. Hydraulic brakes make sure that you stop when you want to stop in a range of weather conditions.
The removable seatpost battery not only means that it is super easy to charge as you can just take the battery inside but it also means that you can remove the battery to take it with you should you need to lock your bike up in public, making it less attractive to thieves.
