Components and build quality:
The AGO Air comes with a Tenways own mid-drive motor which can deliver up to 80Nm of torque and comes with a torque sensor for a natural feeling of assist. If you opt for the chain drive version of this bike then you will get a 9-speed system which offers you full riding control. The belt drive system still offers you a 5-speed system which is pretty impressive and while you may be ‘missing out’ on four extra gears you are gaining in clean low-maintenance peace of mind.
The AGO Air has a step-through frame design making it easy to month and eradicating the need to balance while trying to kick your leg over the back. It is better for shorter riders and offers more outfit flexibility should you wish to wear a skirt. The frame is built to handle a little more than average with a total payload of 145kg (120kg being the standard for e-bikes). This extra capacity means that this bike is good for bigger riders and it means that you can really make use of the rear rack and load it up with any extra cargo you might be carrying.
Performance and handling:
The mid-drive motor makes this bike feel featherlight to ride. The torque is very impressive and responsive. I found getting off from a standing start at traffic lights to be quick and impressive. Honestly this mid-drive motor is probably the standout feature of this bike and a big justification for the price tag of this e-bike. It performed really well on our hill test, even on level 2 I could feel the bike assisting me up the hill.
This bike does also come with front suspension which helps to reduce the impact on your wrists by soaking up bumps and dips in the road.

This is not a lightweight e-ride and I personally would be hesitant to even carry it up a light of stairs but it does come with a central handle which balances the weight when you do pick it up so for some people this might be wiser to carry than other bikes that are say 5kg lighter but awkward and unbalanced to lift.
The app works well and you can get navigation up on the screen which is so super useful. Sometimes the navigation can be a little bit laggy but it does give you a countdown from metres to feet when approaching a junction.
I would say that a big drawback for me was the saddle. When paying this much for an e-bike I want a saddle that is comfortable and that is going to allow me to be out on my bike all day and I will say that this is not what you get with this bike.
In our real world range test we were able to get about 35miles out of one fully charged battery which, for the conditions that we were testing in, is fairly predictable. We were riding in about 9°C in PAS level 5 on a mix of hilly and flat terrain so of course it’s not exactly going to match Tenways claim which will be based on perfect riding conditions but it's not a bad distance either.
Safety and security:
The removable battery means that you can take the battery with you should you need to lock your bike up in public, making it less of a target to any thieves. It also means that it can more easily be charged inside without needing to bring the entire bike in.
You can connect the bike to your phone so that it unlocks automatically when it is turned on and detects that your phone is nearby. Otherwise, if you don’t want to connect to the app then you can set up a pin-code to unlock your bike.
