The best electric scooters you can buy in Canada - Winter 2026

05 March 2026Honey Meeson

Electric scooters are an easy and affordable way to get from A to B, and their popularity has grown rapidly across Canada in recent years. For shorter commutes, they can be a convenient alternative to driving or taking public transport and in many cases, running an e-scooter costs far less than either option. They’re also great for weekend rides, quick errands like picking up groceries, or getting to appointments around town.

At Electroheads, we specialise in reviewing electric vehicles, including e-scooters and e-bikes. Over the years, our testers have tried and reviewed a wide range of models, each with its own strengths and weaknesses. To help you find the right one, we’ve put together a list of the best electric scooters currently available in Canada for different needs and riding styles.

Each scooter has been evaluated across key areas such as price, performance, comfort, build quality, safety, handling and everyday practicality. The models we recommend are:

Best scooters under $500:

Best scooters over $500:

Best affordable scooter: iScooter i9 - $279.99

The iScooter i9 the best affordable scooter. It combines a powerful 350W motor with a stylish design, perfect for navigating city streets with ease and flair. It reaches speeds of up to 15.5 mph for up to 18.6 miles, making it ideal for both commuting and relaxing rides.

This scooter is on the lightweight side at only 12kg, and takes only three seconds to fold, making it super easy to transport and store it away. The impressive headlight, taillights, and flashing taillights that accompany the brakes provide great visibility and safety at night.

The i9 is another scooter that won’t make a big dent on your wallet, while still being reliable and functional to commute or take a leisurely ride.

5th Wheel V20 Pro - $299.99

This e-scooter comes with a 350W motor that can peak at 600W. It can reach speeds of up to 28km/h and a range of up to 12.5km.

I like this scooter because it has 10” wheels which, in my experience, I find a lot more easy to handle than 8.5” wheels as I sometimes find smaller wheels can be a little tricky. (But everyone has different riding styles and preferences!)

This e-scooter is designed with anti-fall turn signals, road safety being a key priority as it clearly signals your direction to surrounding traffic. Its bright headlight and taillight further improve visibility for safe travel day and night.

Through the 5th Wheel app you can lock the scooter, switch gears, and check battery status - most of which is also on the display screen on the handlebars but it's always nice to have.

Best for commuters: Werhy H6 - $299.99

The Werhy H6 is my top choice for commuters. It is slim and agile and can reach top speeds of up to 30km/h. I found it performed best on flats, easily hitting its top speed and not slowing down too much on small inclines. I managed to get multiple short-medium length trips out of this scooter between charges while I commuted and ran errands.

Portability is a huge factor when it comes to getting a scooter for commuting because it has to be portable when it's not in use. Weighing in at around 13kg this scooter is definitely light enough to carry upstairs whether that's to store inside an apartment building or to slide under your desk at work.

For the weight of this scooter to be so light does however mean that some elements will have been compromised on - namely, suspension. The Werhy H6 does not have any suspension, nor does it have pneumatic tires to compensate and absorb any of the shock that uneven roads and pavement may throw at you. The lack of suspension can also be hard on your wrists over long periods of time. That being said, if you were simply using this scooter for short periods of time or your commute through urban areas then this scooter is a good, budget friendly choice.

GoTrax Apex - $300

The GoTrax Apex comes with a 250W motor and a 36V 6AH high-capacity battery offering up to 24km of range. With top speeds of 25km/h this scooter is a good option for exploring city landscapes, running errands, and commuting to work.

With this scooter you do have to push off for it to start as the throttle can only kick in once the scooter is already moving at or above 1.8km/h. While I really liked this feature because it means that you can get full control of your start and not have any runaway scooter incidents, others may not like this feature and may want instant throttle acceleration.

The bright front headlight, and rear light that flashes when you brake make sure that you can see and be seen on the roads at all times. The larger LED display also means that you can get all of your riding stats at a glance.

The lack of suspension is made up for by 8.5” pneumatic tires which absorb any bumps in the road.

Segway ES1L - $395

With a powerful 250W motor, the Segway ES1L can reach 20km/h, with a range of  up to 19km, and accommodate a max load of 220 lbs.

This e-scooter is kept lightweight by its sleek and narrow design and also by the lack of suspension. It does, however, have a spring in the front shock absorber that is designed to cushion the blow from bumps and dips in the road making longer journeys easier on your wrists.

This scooter does leave you wanting a little bit more from its highest mode, Sport Plus as it doesn't give you much more speed or power and drains your battery quicker. If you are happy to stick in Sport mode, which I usually am, then this is a good scooter for short commutes and running city errands.

Hiboy X300 - $1,041.74

The Hiboy X300 has a great feel while riding: a wide and grippy footplate ensures your security and the 500W motor can get you up to speeds of 37km/h. Hiboy claims that the powerful battery can give you up to 61km of range.

This e-scooter not only has 12” pneumatic tires to absorb any bumps in the road, it also has a hydraulic front shock absorber. This combination made it a really comfortable ride - the front suspension definitely a necessary addition for a scooter that can take you on such long journeys because without it it can sometimes be tough on your wrists.

This powerhouse of a scooter is, however, on the heavier side, weighing in at 50.5lbs. This means that it is difficult to carry upstairs if you live on the second or third floor and can be a little tricky to hoist into the trunk of your car.

Cunfon - $1,399.99 - Best for bigger riders

I was really impressed with the Cunfon RZ1000: it comes with dual 1600W motors and a max speed of 31mph!

Front and rear suspension combined with 10.5” tires makes it a smooth and comfortable ride that absorbs any bumps in the road. It also has front and rear disc brakes which ensures that you stop in any conditions. The suspension and power, paired with the 440lbs max load capacity makes this the top choice for taller and bigger riders.

It is great at tackling hills and is built for multi-terrain and off-road journeys.

It also has a fair few cool tech features such as fingerprint unlock to help keep your bike secure and bluetooth pairing so you can play music while you ride which is just loud enough for you and maybe someone riding next to you.

Best for off-read adventures: Segway ZT3 - $1,399.99

This scooter by Segway is an absolute powerhouse that can definitely handle long journeys, multi-terrain adventures and off-road trips.

The Segway ZT3 comes with a 650W motor that can reach top speeds of up to 40km/h with a range of up to 70km! The range is of course calculated using optimal test conditions but even taking this e-scooter out in the cold or up hills you are left with plenty of range, eradicating range anxiety.

I loved the size of the wheels on this scooter. The 11” tires meant that I really felt planted to the floor and felt like I had great control when I was steering and making turns. The ride was also made really smooth by the front suspension and rear spring which absorbed any of the bumps in the road and made it really fun to ride. The wide footplate also made me feel really secure as there was plenty of room for me to get a good stance.

This scooter is also compatible with Segway’s app which can allow automated unlocking so your scooter ill unlock as you approach it which is pretty cool.
