How to choose an electric bike for women
It goes almost without saying that women can ride any electric bike. However, from talking to women riders, we know there are some things they tend to care about more than men:
- A bike suitable for less tall riders - covering seat height, leg extension and handlebar comfort
- Ease of getting on and off, with step throughs favoured for skirt or dress wearers
- Easy ways to carry bags
- Ease of carrying, with weight being a big factor.

ADO Air One Pro - £1,599
Mini-Cargo | Weight: 25kg | Range: up to 60miles
While this is the heaviest bike on this list it is definitely the most versatile. This compact tongtail by ADO is a mini bargo e-bike that is fit to match all of your cargo needs!
We all know that women’s clothing is limited on the pocket front, which means that we always have bags which we don’t always want to carry! The Air One Pro is fully modular and can carry up to four bags at once and is compatible with a child seat.
Because it is not a full-on cargo bike it is still slim and agile, not too cumbersome and has a natural riding feel. It also has a step-through frame which makes it easy to mount, especially if it is laden with cargo.
We really enjoyed riding this bike, our only qualm was that when this bike is carrying a lot of cargo the range is reduced to around 25miles.
Hygge Aarhus Urban ebike | £1,349

Ryd Bike - £1,300.32
Folding | Weight: 14kg | Range: 60km / 37miles
The Ryd Bike Aero 16 is one of the lightest e-bikes on the market weighing only 14kg! This is perfect for riders who aren’t as strong. It is a dream to commute with as it is really nimble, easy to carry upstairs and fold quickly.
The Ryd have made a bike that is very low maintenance. It has no welded joints which means that it isn't prone to welding degradation and so should last much longer. It also used a carbon belt drive which is cleaner and more durable than regular metal bike chains. The bike has a sleek design and great lighting features and a rear rack for carrying up to 25kg worth of extra cargo.
We found the Ryd Bike easy to fold and really compact and easy to slide under your desk or a pub table so that it is not in your way when you are not using it. This also makes it super easy to store if you live in a flat or just don’t have a lot of storage space.
Fiido Air Carbon, £1,636

How we test
Our expert testers ride all the ebikes we review on and off road. We assess them against a range of criteria while riding as well as in our testing rooms. We check the components' quality and spec, and ride the bikes on different terrains and distances. We've ridden hundreds of bikes in total (and an equal number of electric scooters).
