Components and build quality:

The ADO One Pro is a compact longtail with a step-through that offers lots of room for accessories. It offers more storage options than your standard commuter bike allowing you to add lots of accessories to customise your bike suited for your particular use. It can fit a child seat for the school drop off, a pet friendly case for the furry family member and loads of storage solutions. The bike is compatible with industry standard MIK system (Mounting Is Key) so third party accessories are also supported, allowing for all sorts of customisation!

Its adjustable seat and handlebar heights means that it can be used by a range of members of your household ranging from 150cm-190cm tall.

This is not a light e-bike, weighing 25kg with standard accessories. It also requires a fair amount of space to be stored, unless you are comfortable locking and keeping your bike outside.

It has an integrated 2-speed automatic motor by BAFANG that uses a carbon belt drive. A carbon belt is great because it's really strong so it won’t break and it is really low maintenance. A carbon belt drive doesn’t usually have gears but this BAFANG system has two gears, meaning that it automatically switches between the two gears and two speeds based on your riding, informed by the torque sensor.

Performance and handling:

This bike feels wonderful to ride. It’s a smooth ride, the motor making you glide along as it provides you with the most seamless transmission of power. If you can’t tell…we are big fans of how ADO bikes perform. The 20” wheels are fairly wide which means that you also feel quite cushioned as you ride, which is important when your bike is loaded with cargo. The front suspension also means that any bumps or dips in the roads are absorbed by the bike leaving your ride pretty much uninterrupted.

The bike has two levels of assist, Eco and Sport, and usually I like to ride in Sport mode on any e-bike but I found that Eco mode gave me plenty of power and easily got me up to 15.5mph.

The One Pro is not as cumbersome as a cargo bike but when it is fitted with all of the necessary accessories and loaded up with cargo it is just as good. One of my favourite features is that it is extremely stable when it is loaded up; when cycling with the Luca backpack attached to one side of the rear rack I didn't feel it pulling or the bike wanting to lean. Another is that it is still slim enough to allow you to easily cycle through any rows of bollards that you may encounter on your journey.

The bike performed best on the hill test in Sport mode, but that is what it is for I suppose!

Now onto the real world range. ADO claims that you can get up to 62 miles out of one fully charged battery, but we managed to get around 23 miles. It's important to take into account that when we texted the bike it was loaded up with cargo and we were doing a mix of flat and hilly terrain, but we did ride most of the way on eco mode. ADO will of course give their estimated range based on perfect test conditions but they should maybe take into account the fact that most of the time this bike will be laden with cargo when it’s in use. If you think you need a bit of extra mileage then you can also purchase a bottle-style range extender which adds on an extra 37 miles on one charge.

Safety and security:

Hydraulic disk brakes are there to keep you safe and make sure that you can stop in a range of weather conditions.

It also has integrated lights on the front and rear meaning that you can see and be seen on the roads.
