Batteries come in different voltages (V) and amp hours (ah).

Amp hours refers to the amount of electrical charge the battery can product in an hour, while voltage determines (in part) the power output of the battery.

Most e-bikes and e-scooters will have lithium-ion batteries.

The motor is what provides assistance. The number of Watts produced by the motor (e.g. 250W), refers to the power output of the motor. The higher the wattage of the motor, the more powerful it is.
In the UK, the maximum legal power output of an e-bike for use on public roads and footpaths is 250W.

Battery electric motor torque is the rotational force generated by an electric motor powered by a battery.

The higher the torque, the easier it will feel when pedalling.

Anything over 30nm is more than sufficient!

Having gears, from a company such as Shimano, makes cycling up and over hills easier.
Cycling in a lower gear means less pedalling effort and less speed.
Cycling in a higher gear means more pedalling effort and more speed.

Most e-bikes will come with 7 or 8 gears.

Hydraulic disk brakes on e-bikes use fluid pressure for actuation, providing smoother and more precise braking, while mechanical disk brakes use a cable system for actuation, offering a simpler design but potentially requiring more maintenance.

Tyres come in a variety of sizes and compounds.
Smoother tyres are better for the road, while tyres with a more pronounced tread are better for gravel or off-road riding.

E-bikes and e-scooters have a display to show, among other things, the e-bike or e-scooter's projected range, level of assistance and total distance covered.

Displays can be black and white, colour, waterproof or non-waterproof.
