Whether you're looking for a reliable commuter scooter, a long-range model for weekend adventures, or simply the best value electric scooter available in the USA, choosing the right option can be overwhelming. With hundreds of electric scooters on the market, ranging from budget-friendly city commuters to high-performance machines capable of tackling steep hills and long distances, it's not always easy to know which models are worth your money.

At Electroheads, we've spent years testing and reviewing electric scooters from the world's biggest manufacturers. Our team evaluates every scooter based on real-world riding experience, considering factors such as ride comfort, range, motor performance, build quality, portability, value for money, and overall rider experience. Rather than relying solely on manufacturer specifications, we focus on how these scooters actually perform on American roads and streets. In this guide, we've selected the best electric scooters you can buy in the USA in 2026.

Whether you're searching for the best electric scooter for commuting, the best electric scooter for adults, a long-range electric scooter, or a powerful model capable of handling hills and heavier riders, you'll find a recommendation here. To help you make the right choice, we've included options across a range of budgets and riding styles. Some riders prioritise portability and affordability, while others want maximum speed, comfort, or battery range. Our picks cover all of these categories, making it easier to find the electric scooter that best suits your needs.

How we test electric scooters:

We test electric scooters on four main criteria...

  • Components and build quality
  • Safety and security
  • Performance and handling
  • Comfort and practicality

These four key areas determine how we rate a scooter, as well as taking value for money into account.

Before choosing your next scooter, pay particular attention to motor power, battery range, rider weight limits, suspension quality, tyre type, and portability. These factors can have a significant impact on your daily riding experience and often matter more than headline top-speed figures. You can check out our comparison table for a quick overview of these factors.

Best overall: Gotrax G4 Pro - $649

The Gotrax G4 is a cult classic scooter that has just got even better with their latest release: the G4 Pro

This is a 500W single motor electric scooter with 10” tires and a LCD display. It has a top speed of 20mph and can get there quickly and easily. So many scooters are limited to 15.5mph, and it just feels too sluggish so the G4 Pro really stands out in comparison.

What makes this model a step up from the classic G4 is the addition of suspension. The G4 Pro comes with front suspension meaning that bumps and dips in the road will be mitigated for a smooth ride. This makes such a difference when it comes to riding long distances as there is less impact on your wrists.

Another great feature of the G4 Pro is the comfortable footplate. It has lots of grip which helps to make you feel comfortable in all weather conditions. Along with the LED front light and the rear lights you should feel safe on the roads on the G4 Pro.

It is also available in two colours: red and cyan. (Cyan is pictured above.)

Best for Budget Beginners: MegaWheels A1C - $235.28

The Mega Wheels A1C has a 300W motor, front suspension and  8.5-inch solid tires.

It has a top speed of 15.5mph which, honestly, can sometimes feel a little slow, but if you are just looking to use it for commuting to work through the city then this would be a good, modest choice. The front suspension provides comfort when going over uneven road surfaces which is necessary on this scooter. Although the solid tires are puncture-free, they don't provide much protection against any bumps in the road.

The MegaWheels App has some nice little features like an anti-theft lock, ride tracking,  speed adjustment features  and real-time diagnostics. You can personalize your scooter settings and monitor your ride.

Overall, if you have never owned and electric scooter before I would recommend getting this as a first-time or entry-level scooter. It's not too powerful but it is impressive for the price and it rides smoothly.

Most Portable: WERHY H7 Pro - $319.99

The WERHY H7 Pro is a very slim and sleek electric scooter. It is notably slimmer than other scooters on this list and has a motor power of 350W, and weighs 13kg, which as a 5'7 woman, I found makes it easy for carrying up and downstairs.

While I do often prefer a wider footplate this scooter the fact that it is so lightweight definitely makes up for it. I found that the lightweight nature of this scooter made it easier to turn.

Though it does not have the most powerful motor that you can buy, the H7 Pro’s starting speed is impressive. It does not start slow and accelerate like some other scooters do - it starts at speed instantly and can be really fun!

GOTRAX G3 Plus - $399

With a top speed of 18mph the Gotrax G3 Plus feels sufficiently fast to get you around town, it really feels like a step up from your standard entry-level scooter both in terms of quality, and the riding experience. It also has up to 18miles of range, enough to get you to and from work for a few days between charges if you were using this scooter to commute.

The motor's position in the front wheel provides better control and handling for easy navigation through urban streets.

The wide platform affords a sense of stability as there is plenty of room for your feet. The platform is also textured to provide grip so should you be out in wet weather conditions you would feel secure. The LED headlight also keeps you safe as it makes sure that you can see and be seen on the road.

The lack of suspension does sometimes make riding over bumpier roads a little uncomfortable and tough on your wrists. The 10” air-filled tires do help to mitigate this feeling slightly as they do help to absorb some of the shock from any uneven surfaces.

WERHY H10 - $459.99

The WERHY H10 comes with a 500W motor that lets me hit speeds of up to 19mph. I took it through different terrains, and the 10-inch tires with front and rear suspension made sure I was comfortable, even on bumpy paths.

I did find that inability to adjust the handlebar height did not make this scooter the perfect fit for me and definitely would not be the correct height for all riders but I think that it’s something I would compromise on. The wide and grippy footplate made up for it by providing comfort and a feeling of security.

Best for Commuting: Hoverfly X5 - $499.99

The Hoverfly X5 comes with a 500W motor, dual front suspension and top speeds of 20mph.

I really liked this scooter - the suspension made it comfortable to ride over any uneven road and the acceleration is zippy without feeling uncontrollable. 10 inch tires also help to make the handling feel more steady.

Hoverfly claims that the 36V 12AH battery can last for up to 25miles and while this is obviously subject to specific conditions this scooter did last me multiple trips out between charges.

The walk assist and electric lock features also add to this bike and make its handling and security just that little bit better.

Best for Bigger Riders: Kukirin G2 Max - $699.99

The Kurkirin G2 Max is a powerhouse of a scooter built for multi-terrain journeys. The 1000W motor can get you up to speeds of up to 35mph, easily cope with hills, and last for up to 50miles between charges.

The full suspension is combined with pneumatic tires which makes this scooter super comfortable to ride and really well suited to multi-terrain journeys and offroad uses. You can also adjust the handlebar height which is, in my opinion, a bit of a must-have for a scooter of this price, so that you can maximize comfort while you ride.

All of these features, the power, suspension and adjustable handlebars, make this the perfect pick for bigger and taller riders. It also has a maximum weight limit of 264lbs and comes with a seat that can be attached to make this scooter a seated cruiser

I also really like the 6 light system: 1 front headlight, 2 front auxiliary lights, 1 tail light brake light and 2 turn warning lights. It not only lets you see during nighttime riding but it helps you to feel safe and seen at all times.

All of these features do, however, add to the weight. I found this scooter hard to handle when I wasn’t riding it: it is very heavy to lift so bear this in mind if you live on the second or third floor of a building and have nowhere to store it outside/downstairs.

Best for Off-Road: Cunfon RZ1000 - $1,099.99

I was really impressed with the Cunfon RZ1000: it comes with dual 1600W motors and a max speed of 31mph!

Front and rear suspension combined with 10.5” tires makes it a smooth and comfortable ride that absorbs any bumps in the road. It also has front and rear disc brakes which ensures that you stop in any conditions.

It is great at tackling hills and is built for multi-terrain and off-road journeys.

It also has a fair few cool tech features such as fingerprint unlock to help keep your bike secure and bluetooth pairing so you can play music while you ride which is just loud enough for you and maybe someone riding next to you.

Best for Long Trips: Hiboy Titan - $1,199.99

The build quality of the Hiboy Titan is really excellent. The solid frame, dual suspension, and wide deck for a comfortable stance all made this scooter feel comfortable and secure to ride.

Powered by a 1200W motor it can reach speeds of up to 25mph which is definitely fast enough to get you around and not too fast that you run the risk of feeling out of control. The 10” tires also help you to feel in control as smaller wheels can sometimes make a scooter’s handling feel twitchy and tricky.

The battery life was good too - I like to ride using the middle mode and this allowed me to get multiple trips out of one single charge.

The Titan also comes with a phone holder that can be mounted on the handlebars which is one of those extras that is super handy to have for navigation.
